Avonlea Flowers is situated on the banks of the Goulburn River at Murchison, 2 hours north of Melbourne. The business was established by David and Julie Weidenbach in 1989 and, from humble beginnings, has grown into a thriving family success.

Over the years, Avonlea Flowers has established itself as a reputable supplier of high-quality fresh cut flowers to both supermarkets and florists. We have expanded our operations to encompass more than 10 hectares across two locations, cultivating over 30 different crops throughout the year. This growth has positioned us as the largest cut flower growing operation in Australia.

About the position

You will contribute to the development of floricultural processes and systems. Your knowledge will assist in optimizing growing techniques, improving efficiency, and maintaining sustainability standards in operations.

Key Responsibilities include:

assist in soil preparation, planting, crop support, watering, spraying, and harvesting.

keep accurate planting, spraying and maintenance records.

operate and maintain a variety of farm machinery and equipment (eg. tractors, RTVs, planting machines, etc).

oversee planting teams when working in your area.

monitor plant moisture and water plants manually and through automatic watering system.

monitor, refill and operate fertigation system, as required.

applying pesticides and appropriate treatments for pest control.

make repairs to greenhouses.

work with the Farm Management Team develop processes and/or equipment to increase productivity and work efficiencies in areas such as harvesting and crop support.

maintain a safe workplace.

About you

Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks, while adhering to OHS legislation.

Current drivers licence and own transport.

Forklift licence or willingness to obtain.

Experience in operating farm machinery is desirable but not required.

Strong initiative and planning ability.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

AQF Certificate III with at least two years on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV.
