VM - BABY DRIVER

We are looking for a passionate Venue Manager to be a part of the relaunch of 'Baby Driver' (previously Torino Aperitivo) in the famous Driver Lane Melbourne, next door to our sibling venue Beneath Driver Lane Basement Bar.

Baby Driver is all about vinyl music, 70's jazz and funk – focussing on an extended Australian and European wine list and tight signature cocktails, and elevated bar snacks from ex-Movida Chef, Baby Driver is the classier sibling to our neighbour BDL with its underground whisky and blues vibe.

We are looking for someone who instills and fosters a sense of creativity, organisation, leadership, venue growth, building momentum within revenue streams and creating a fun, inclusive and vibrant work environment, for both guests and the team.

What underpins a great Venue Manager? Working on a holistic F & B program that attracts and inspires customers to have fun, engage and enjoy the experience in our beautiful space. A great VM utilises the people around them to encourage and bring the team along for the journey!

During trade the Venue Manager is likely to be responsible for managing the shift in terms of trading times, open/close procedures, venue operations, cleanliness, team and roster, training and all other requirements for a successful service.

Position Purpose

As the lead position of the venue you will:

Provide direct administrative and operational support to the director

Provide guidance, leadership and training to the team as a whole and show leadership across all venues within the group

Operate as key point of call for all venue requirements, staffing, brands, suppliers and stakeholders

Manage internal budgets, staffing/rostering, revenue streams and a level of financial accruement

Principal Responsibilities

Provide a high level of management support

Facilitate training and provide leadership and direction to the team as a whole

Represent and uphold Driver Lane’s brand while in the venue, or at any work-related function

Provide a high level of customer service and experience at all times

Curating and managing the Australian and European wine list

Ensure the venue is operational and that any issues raised with the management team are addressed as soon as reasonably possible

Any other specific responsibilities as delegated by senior management/director. Including but not limited to stocktake, ordering, menu development, cocktail building, interdepartmental support, rostering, staff training and management

Working closely with the venue Bar Manager and supporting where necessary

Key Duties

Ensure a high level of customer service is upheld at all times.

Work with the team to develop cocktails that are aligned with the aesthetic of the bar and appropriate for the seasonal menu.

Support the development and planning of training sessions which nurture the direction of the venue and career progression of staff.

Facilitate the development of drink specials, menu additions, events and promotions.

Ensure the venue remains tidy throughout service and cleaning duties are completed at the end of each shift

Ensure any preparation that is necessary for the shift, next day or weekend is completed.

Open and/or close the venue as required and manage shifts as lead

Any other duties as directed, proportionate to the scope of the position
