MKL Private Equity Pty Ltd is a dynamic and growing company specializing in property management, short-term rentals (Airbnb), and cleaning service outsourcing. Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a skilled and qualified Accountant (General) to join our team.

As the Accountant (General), you will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial performance, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, laws, and regulations. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company and the wider Group of Companies, contributing to the financial success and strategic growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, financial projections, budgetary reports, actual vs. budgeted variance analysis reports, and cost/revenue analysis reports for the Group of Companies.
2. Prepare detailed owner income reports to provide transparency and insights into property earnings and performance.
3. Analyze and recommend pricing strategies for short-term rental properties (e.g., Airbnb), taking into account seasonal fluctuations, market trends, and occupancy rates.
4. Provide data-driven advice on optimal pricing to maximize revenue and occupancy during peak and off-peak periods.
5. Examine operating costs, income, and expenditure to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
6. Assist the General Manager in developing financial KPIs to monitor key budget risk areas across the company.
7. Calculate and interpret financial ratios (e.g., profitability ratios, leverage ratios) to provide insights into the company’s financial performance and identify areas requiring attention.
8. Summarize financial analysis findings and present them to management and other stakeholders.
9. Create, review, and maintain financial systems, processes, and documentation to ensure they reflect contemporary accounting practices.
10. Regularly liaise with the ATO, ASIC, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
11. Continuously improve and streamline financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
12. Establish and maintain strong internal controls over sourcing and payment processes.
13. Provide assurance about the accuracy of financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements.
14. Provide financial and taxation advice on business structure, plans, and operations to support strategic decision-making.
15. Provide training and mentorship to accounting interns, particularly Monash University students, to help them develop practical accounting skills and knowledge.

Skills and Requirements:

• Bachelor qualification (or above) in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent (essential).
• Have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the role of Accountant (General).
• A current and comprehensive knowledge of relevant tax legislation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to effectively communicate accounting concepts.
• Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) will be highly regarded.
• Understanding accounting and financial principles and how to apply them.
• Highly proficient in Excel, including pivot tables. Ability to build complex reports from multiple data sources and analyse large volumes of data.
• Have experience in managing financial matters for Group of Companies.
