About the Position
Working within our Environmental Health team, the Environmental Health Officer is responsible for the administration of relevant public health legislation that assists the City and its stakeholders to fulfil its duty of care to maintain and improve the public health and environmental health standards in the community.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, or similar qualification deemed acceptable by the Chief Health Officer to enable appointment as an Environmental Health Officer.
- Previous experience working in Environmental Health in Local Government.
- Strong knowledge of and ability to interpret regulations, codes, standards and apply legislation, including the Public Health Act 2016, Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911 and Food Act 2008.
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups to ensure delivery of a high level of customer service.
- Well-developed problem solving, decision making, time management, analytical and research skills.
- A current National Police Clearance.
- Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
