About the role

The Birdhouse, a leading local restaurant in Minchinbury NSW, is seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our passionate culinary team. As Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in driving the culinary vision and delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This is a full-time position based in our restaurant in Minchinbury.

What you'll be doing

Lead and manage a team of established, skilled chefs to deliver consistently high-quality meals

Develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that showcase your culinary expertise

Ensure efficient kitchen operations and adherence to health and safety standards

Collaborate with the management team to optimise kitchen workflows and costs

Foster a positive, productive and engaged kitchen culture

Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control

Participate in procurement and inventory management

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant

Strong background in contemporary Australian and Mediterranean cuisine

Excellent culinary skills, including food preparation, plating and presentation

Ability to lead, motivate and develop a kitchen team

Strong organisational and time management skills

Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients

Commitment to upholding food safety and hygiene standards

Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or hospitality management

Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required for this position
