Bathers Pavilion is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Function Chef to lead our Events & Functions kitchen. This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional, creative team delivering exceptional dining experiences in one of Sydney's most iconic beachside venues.

Located on the stunning Balmoral Beach, just 20 minutes from Sydney CBD, Bathers Pavilion is known for its elegant food, outstanding service, and dynamic workplace culture.

The Role

As Head Function Chef, you will take charge of the culinary direction and execution of all events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations. You will lead a dedicated team in delivering consistently high-quality food with precision and flair. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a chef who enjoys being active in prep and service, while also mentoring their team and managing kitchen operations.

You'll collaborate with our Executive Chef and broader kitchen team to design innovative menus, ensure consistent food quality, manage kitchen systems, and uphold our standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and inspire a team of chefs across all aspects of food production for functions and events

Maintain high culinary standards across menu execution, prep, service, and presentation

Collaborate on seasonal menu development and create detailed prep guides and recipes

Manage kitchen operations including stock control, ordering, cost management, and hygiene compliance

Ensure smooth and efficient service, working closely with the front-of-house team

Support rostering and payroll processes through accurate team management

Foster a positive, respectful, and team-focused kitchen environment

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 2 years' experience in a Head Chef or equivalent leadership role

Proven ability to manage kitchen teams and operations efficiently

Strong attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills

Calm, confident communicator with a collaborative mindset

Availability to work evenings and weekends

About The Bathers' Pavilion

The Restaurant at The Bathers’ Pavilion is an impressive affair in a warm setting with impeccable food and service to match the stunning view. Situated in a striking building on Balmoral Beach, the Restaurant sits on one side of the pavilion while its sister Café is on the other. The interior is modern, stylish and yet there is still a warmth and cosiness to it.

The Bathers’ Pavilion is owned by chef, Serge Dansereau. The view is towards the Heads and overlooks Middle Harbour. We are around fifteen minutes from the city. There are many ways to enjoy eating or drinking within the old beach changing shed pavilion – private dining rooms, Café, Bar and a fine dining Restaurant.
