About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Urban Planner to work with our small and dynamic planning team to deliver high-quality, community aligned outcomes. Reporting to the Coordinator Statutory Planning and working under the direction of the Manager Planning Services, you will be contributing to a breadth of complex and challenging planning situations including both statutory and strategic planning work.
You will play a critical role in ensuring that land use and development aligns with community expectations and legislative planning framework.
Key duties under the direction of the Manager Planning Services may include, but are not limited to;
Assess and report on planning proposals including developments, subdivisions, town planning scheme amendments and compliance;
Provide customer service for a variety of needs and levels, including preliminary liaison with proponents and neighbours for the public viewing proposals;
Undertake planning research, policy/local law and project tasks as directed;
Assist in responding to SAT appeals and participate in professional or community forums as required; and
Assist Manager Planning Services, Coordinator Statutory Planning, other team members and colleagues on an ongoing basis.

About you
The ideal candidate will possess the qualifications, experience and personal attributes necessary to perform effectively in this role.
Essential
Relevant tertiary qualifications and statutory town planning experience, preferably including local government;
Sound knowledge of WA town planning system and governance;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to problem solve with a diverse range of stakeholders; and
Initiative, integrity, professionalism, team-orientation, customer-focus and commitment.
Additional Requirements
Current Australian Working Rights;
Current Driver’s Licence - C Class;
Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain); and
Willingness to under-go a Pre-Employment Medical (as required).
