About the role
As the Supervisor Urban Forest, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our City’s urban forest and arboricultural assets. Importantly, you will also implement programs to enhance the quality and sustainability of Canning’s urban forest and lead a team to deliver strategic urban forest outcomes. This permanent, full-time role is highly customer-centric and strives to meet community expectations through supervising delivery of arboriculture activities.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Operational management of all arboriculture activities including delivery of strategic urban forest programs and projects
Providing expert technical advice on arboriculture operations
Preparing reports and recommendations to Council and assisting in developing policies that ensure strategic urban forestry outcomes
Exceeding community expectations through effective programming of arboriculture works and encouraging public awareness on tree preservation
Leading a team of field and office based urban forest staff to deliver strategic urban forest outcomes
What you will bring to the role:
Tertiary qualified in Arboriculture, Horticulture or demonstrated five years’ minimum experience in an equivalent role
Proven experience delivering strategic and operational urban forestry projects and programs
Sound people management skills and supervisory experience – able to lead, support and develop a team of office and field staff to ensure delivery of arboriculture activities
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders towards arboriculture goals
Strong digital literacy and computer skills – able to research, write reports and plans using modern software systems including Microsoft Office and TechOne/OneCouncil.
Demonstrated financial management experience, including budgeting, costing projects and maintenance programs
Qualification in Supervision or Leadership desirable
Current Basic Worksite Traffic Management and chainsaw tickets desirable.
