The Opportunity
This position, with a large subsidiary, combines the activities of a Technical Financial Accountant with those of a Commercial Accountant with a focus on mitigating commercial risks. Reporting into the Financial Controller the role includes ensuring compliance with Head Office accounting and financial management policies and procedures. You will be covering the performance of a number of manufacturing plants and ensuring timely and cost-effective financial management including the provision of advice to key internal operational stakeholders. In addition, the role will encompass implementing internal controls and budgeting processes, training and coaching accounts staff and addressing complex financial or accounting issues.
Duties include:
- Preparing and consolidating statutory financial statements and assembling information for external auditors for the annual and bi-annual audit
- Reporting financial status by developing forecasts, revenue projections, annual budgets, cash flows, expense figures, analysing variances, and developing improvements
- Developing financial organisational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, establishing functional objectives in line with organisational objectives
- Establishing finance operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems and implementing change
- Analysis of manufacturing operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and systems enhancement
- Reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and overseeing the operations of accounts staff across accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Providing practical advice for business partnering initiatives for strategy development and driving business performance
You:
As a suitable candidate you would have the following:
- Desirable qualification in business, commerce or similar and a CA/CPA/CIMA or similar;
- At least 2 years’ experience in a Commercial role in construction or manufacturing industries combined with Big 4 or Second Tier Accounting background;
- You are an individual who will thrive in managing and building a high-performance finance team;
- Working knowledge of contracts and contractual concepts;
- Stong skill levels in Microsoft Excel
- Strong organisational skills, you are autonomous, you have good time management and meet your deadlines;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – you are able to converse confidently with all levels of the workforce;
- Nothing is ever a problem, you like to get things done, you like contributing to the team;
- You are always thinking about how to do things better and you thrive on overcoming challenges;
- You have a high work ethic and you are willing to learn and assist where you can.
