The Role

This role is responsible for providing professional advice, coaching and support through a partnership approach with management and employees. They are responsible for maximising rehabilitation outcomes for workers and minimising the impact on insurance premium, while maintaining a positive safety culture. In this role you will:

  • Act as the primary contact for injured employees and managers
  • Provide rehabilitation and return-to-work support for both work-related and non-work-related injuries
  • Managing Workers Compensation claims and RTW Plans
  • Liaising with GPs, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists regarding employee injuries and RTW plans
  • Developing and monitoring suitable plans, and supporting leaders to implement them for positive return-to-work outcomes
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of policies and procedures in line with our governance framework and legislation
  • Completing necessary reporting for prompt claim lodgement and early intervention
  • Maintaining records in accordance with legislative and business requirements

To succeed in the role, you will have strong influencing and coaching skills, including demonstrated grievance resolution, counselling and mediation skills, investigative and problem-solving skills, presentation and group facilitation skills, and advanced report writing skills including the ability to develop policies and procedures.

About You

  • A Degree in occupational health and safety, health, nursing or related discipline and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in workplace rehabilitation and return to work practices, understanding individual needs and characteristics of injured workers to provide effective injury management.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of relevant Acts and associated legislation, standards, work procedures and practices relating to injury or health management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex working relationships including the ability to negotiate outcomes and translate medical information into terms that are readily understood.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet operational demands
  • A ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
  • Allied health background, experience in delivering successful wellbeing initiatives and managing an injury management system is desirable.
