About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and analytical Credit Analyst /Relationship Manager to join our dynamic Commercial Credit team. This is a crucial role focused on technical credit assessment and the active management of an existing portfolio within the banking and insurance sector.
 You will be responsible for assessing new applications from distribution partners and managing relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the portfolio's health and alignment with credit policies. This is an ideal position for a skilled credit professional who excels in analysis and stakeholder management and is passionate about excellent customer service.
Role Responsibilities
1. Credit Assessment & Analysis
- Apply sound credit assessment and decision-making skills for a diverse portfolio of commercial clients
 - Manage the end-to-end credit assessment process for new applications (from distribution partners and direct clients) and existing portfolio (including annual renewals and ad-hoc assessments)
 - Conduct thorough due diligence, gathering all relevant underwriting information and market research to support credit decisions
 - Assess client information, financial statements, and industry data to make credit decisions within Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) or deliver well-supported recommendations to senior stakeholders
 - Implement appropriate security structures to mitigate risk and protect the business in the event of a loss
 
2. Portfolio Management & Risk
- Ensure all credit decisions and portfolio management activities balance commercial objectives with the business's established risk appetite
 - Proactively monitor portfolio health, identifying and addressing potential risks or changes in client circumstances
 - Guarantee all applications and processes meet internal credit underwriting policies and external regulatory obligations (e.g., Privacy Act)
 - Maintain meticulous records and manage daily workflow, ensuring the database is accurately updated with all client information, security, and communications
 
3. Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact for distribution partners, brokers, and clients regarding underwriting and portfolio matters
 - Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with all stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring a high level of service
 - Participate in meetings, calls, and industry functions as required to represent the team and maintain partner relationships
 
4. Team Development & Process Improvement
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and suggesting enhancements to underwriting processes and workflows
 
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience in commercial banking, finance, or insurance-related role, with at least 2 years in a dedicated credit risk or underwriting position
 - Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Commerce preferred
 - Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements to make informed credit decisions
 - Demonstrated commercial acumen and problem-solving skills, with a track record of making sound commercial decisions
 - Proven stakeholder management skills, with experience dealing directly with customers, brokers, or business partners and providing high-quality service
 - Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to discuss financial information and negotiate terms with stakeholders at all levels

- Strong analytical and financial assessment skills, with proven ability to interpret complex financial data, assess credit risk, and make sound and timely recommendations aligned with policy and portfolio objectives
 - Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
 - Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
 - A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the initiative to drive outcomes and improve processes
 - A confident, motivated, and approachable individual who works well within a team-oriented culture
 - Experience in the banking or insurance sector highly regarded
