The Company

Our client is a family-owned Australian company that offers premium design-focused home and architectural hardware products. With a legacy spanning nearly four decades, they have become one of Australia’s leading players in their industry.

Their unique multi-brand portfolio caters to both stylish consumers and trade clients, and their reach now extends across Australasia, North America, and Europe. Despite a global footprint and approximately 100 staff, the company maintains an innovative, close-knit culture. New ideas are encouraged in this flat organisational structure, and long-tenured team members reflect a work environment built on trust and collaboration.

The business prides itself on craftsmanship, quality design, and sustainability, guided by core values of respect, responsibility, adaptability, and passion.

If you’re excited by the idea of working for a growth-oriented, design-led company with strong values, this could be the perfect fit.

The Role

As the Global E-commerce & Digital Manager, you will own the digital ecosystem and be the driving force for online growth across multiple brands and regions. This is a strategic yet hands-on leadership role where you’ll develop vision and execute plans to deliver results. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (and working closely with the executive team), you will be entrusted to build and lead the digital function from the ground up. Key responsibilities include:

  • Digital Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a cohesive global digital strategy encompassing e-commerce, digital marketing, and platform development. Ensure all digital initiatives align with commercial growth objectives and brand positioning.
  • E-commerce Management: Optimise several Shopify-based e-commerce websites in the US, UK, EU and beyond – improving user experience, traffic, and conversion rates for each online store. Oversee content and performance of non-transactional brand sites in AU/NZ, ensuring they effectively funnel engagement and support sales.
  • Digital Marketing Campaigns: Lead end-to-end digital marketing efforts across all regions – from SEO and email to paid advertising (SEM, social, display). You’ll plan campaigns, manage budgets, and work with agencies to drive qualified traffic and convert website visitors into customers.
  • Team & Agency Leadership: Manage a small digital team (including a Marketing/Digital Assistant under your guidance) and external agencies (web development, SEO, PPC). You’ll provide clear direction, foster collaboration, and hold everyone (including yourself) accountable for delivering results.
  • Data-Driven Growth: Continuously analyse performance data and customer insights to inform decisions. Track ROI and optimise marketing spend. Translate data into actionable strategies to boost online revenue and engagement.
  • Innovation & Expansion: Identify and execute on new digital growth opportunities. This could mean rolling out e-commerce into new international markets, refining go-to-market strategies for product launches, or implementing new technologies to enhance the customer experience. You’ll work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Operations to ensure digital initiatives support broader business goals.
  • Platform Development: Plan the roadmap for future e-commerce platforms and digital tools. Ensure the company’s digital infrastructure is future-proof, scalable, and able to support expansion (for example, new regional sites or integrations). As the digital champion, you’ll drive solutions that keep the business at the cutting edge of e-commerce trends.

In this role, you will have significant autonomy to shape strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to get things done. It’s a chance to build a digital department almost from scratch, in a company that sees digital as key to its future. Your work will be highly visible, and you’ll play a pivotal part in the company’s evolution in the online space.

About You

You are a commercially savvy e-commerce leader who balances strategic vision with hands-on execution. You love the challenge of building something new and can operate both as a high-level strategist and as an executor who dives into the details. You’re adaptable, innovative, and not afraid to take ownership. Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven E-commerce Experience: 5+ years in e-commerce/digital management roles, driving online growth across multiple brands or regions. You have led digital strategy for a business with international reach and understand the complexities of selling to different markets.
  • Shopify & Tech Skills: Deep familiarity with Shopify e-commerce platforms (you know how to get the best out of Shopify’s ecosystem). Bonus if you’ve managed integrations with ERP systems like NetSuite or similar.
  • Digital Marketing Expertise: Hands-on experience planning and executing paid digital advertising campaigns (Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram, etc.), including budget management, audience targeting, and ROI analysis. You know how to build traffic and acquire customers online in a cost-effective way.
  • Data-Driven & Analytical: Proficiency with analytics and reporting tools – e.g. Google Analytics, Looker/Data Studio – and an ability to interpret data to make evidence-based decisions. Experience with attribution modeling and A/B testing will be highly regarded.
  • Strategic Project Leadership: A track record of shaping digital roadmaps and delivering projects that enabled growth (such as launching new e-commerce sites, entering new markets, or implementing new digital solutions). You can envision the big picture and break it into actionable plans.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and agencies. You inspire and mentor junior staff, and you’ve successfully managed relationships with external vendors or digital agencies. Equally, you excel at cross-functional collaboration, working with marketing, creative, sales, and product teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Autonomous & Adaptable: You’re highly independent and self-motivated, capable of managing a broad and evolving workload with minimal supervision. When priorities shift, you adapt quickly and keep the team on track. You take initiative to solve problems and find solutions (a true “owner” mentality).
  • Passion for Digital & Brand: A passion for digital innovation and staying on top of e-commerce trends. You care about building great customer experiences and brand stories online. Experience in premium or design-led consumer brands (especially in lifestyle, homewares, or B2B/B2C mixed environments) will be essential, as you’ll understand the importance of brand aesthetic and consistency.
  • Global Mindset: Exposure to US, UK, or European markets in an e-commerce context is desirable. You appreciate the nuances of operating in different regions, from localisation and currencies to digital marketing differences and you’re excited to grow a brand internationally.

What’s on Offer

This role offers the best of both worlds – the agility and close-knit feel of a small team, with the resources and stability of an established business. You’ll have the freedom to work remotely and set the digital agenda, while enjoying strong support from the executive leadership. Other benefits include:

  • Empowerment & Autonomy: You’ll have the trust and backing to run your own show in the digital space. This is your department to shape, and a chance to put your stamp on a growing company’s strategy.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work with a passionate, down-to-earth team that values innovation and teamwork. The company’s flat hierarchy means you’ll engage directly with decision-makers and see the impact of your work quickly.
  • Lifestyle & Values: Be part of a business that genuinely values its people and operates with integrity. They have a supportive, family-like culture that celebrates creativity, solution-oriented thinking, and continuous improvement.
  • Competitive Remuneration: Enjoy a generous salary package and benefits. The offered base salary range of $130,000 – $160,000 + super reflects the importance of this role to the business, with potential for growth as you drive results.
