We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded professional to lead the launch and management of a new quarterly digital publication. This is a pivotal, hands-on role that blends editorial strategy, product management, and commercial oversight to bring an engaging new publication to life — from concept through to market success.

About the Role
As the Digital Product & Publishing Lead, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end development, delivery, and performance of a new digital magazine. You’ll manage everything from defining the product strategy and content direction to overseeing production, marketing, and audience engagement.

Working closely with leadership, marketing, sales, and creative teams, you’ll ensure the publication meets both audience and commercial objectives while maintaining high editorial standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Management

  • Lead the design, development, and launch of a new digital publication.
  • Manage overall product performance, including profit and loss (P&L) accountability.
  • Develop a content strategy that aligns with audience interests and commercial priorities.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of contributors and partners.
  • Use analytics and insights to measure engagement and inform ongoing improvements.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to identify sponsorship, advertising, and partnership opportunities.

Editorial Direction

  • Commission, edit, and write content that aligns with the publication’s tone and purpose.
  • Oversee the production schedule and ensure timely delivery of all content.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, readability, and brand consistency.
  • Coordinate the work of writers, designers, and other content contributors.

Marketing & Growth

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow readership and engagement.
  • Provide content and ideas for social media, email, and marketing campaigns.
  • Support promotional efforts to build awareness and drive audience loyalty.
  • Source and brief images and creative assets to complement written content.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with senior leadership on strategy, timelines, and delivery outcomes.
  • Liaise with sales and business development teams to align editorial and commercial goals.
  • Manage relationships with freelancers, agencies, and content partners.
  • Balance editorial vision with audience needs and business imperatives.

About You

  • Proven experience leading digital or print publishing projects end-to-end.
  • Strong background in content strategy, editorial development, and product management.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets and driving revenue growth.
  • Skilled communicator and collaborator, comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Confident managing multiple workflows, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Knowledge of digital publishing tools, platforms, and content management systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience in health, lifestyle, or professional content sectors.
  • Background in journalism or digital media.
  • Understanding of UX, analytics, and audience development in digital environments.

Casual Loading

Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
