Hair For Hats provides a comfortable alternative to traditional wigs for people experiencing hair loss such as from chemotherapy and alopecia. It is headband with human hair attached, worn under hats, beanies and scarves – looking like a full head of hair while leaving one’s scalp cool and itch-free for all-day wear. Our home office is in Terrigal, on the Central Coast, and our Etsy and Shopify websites service people across the world. We use ethically-sourced hair donated by Australians via Sustainable Salons. About the role

This is an e-commerce administrative role for a very small business, selling human hair hat wigs to people experiencing hair loss. Importantly, this role requires caring and considerate communication with each customer, via email and Etsy messages, advising them on the best colour and style of our wigs in stock, based on their photo. The role involves working independently in short shifts Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, to fulfill orders, manage stock and support a range of related aspects of the business.

The payrate is $40-50 an hour, depending on experience, skills and preference for a part-time or casual contract. The days and hours are flexible and negotiable. Ideally it will start with 10 hours a week spread over Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with further growth potential as the business grows.

Key responsibilities:

Order Fulfilment - perform quality checks on each hair piece (pieces (including brushing, trimming and straightening), processing and fulfilling orders, lodging packages at Australia Post in Terrigal (and sometimes via a DHL courier pick up), ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Styling Advice - provide exceptional support and styling advice to our customers including via email/Etsy messages, suggesting appropriate products based on customer photo, sometimes taking and sending photos, and occasional in-person consultations.

Hairdressing – trim new stock, occasionally tailor hair pieces to customer needs e.g. cutting in a fringe); support quality control including toning and conditioning pieces when required.

Stock Management - monitor and manage inventory levels and conduct regular stocktakes to ensure product availability; occasionally sort raw hair into colours and package it up to send to the manufacturer.

Content Creation – depending on time and skills available the role could expand to include developing engaging content for our Instagram, Facebook, website and Etsy store.

About you

You are a caring, self-driven excellent administrator with hairdressing experience, looking for flexible, meaningful, local work. The hairdressing experience is important, as the role requires a strong understanding of hair colours, textures and volume, advising customers on the best combination of wig pieces for them, and occasionally trimming the stock (on a mannequin) and tailoring it to customer needs. Excellent administrative skills are required to use e-commerce systems (Etsy and Shopify), replying to customer inquiries, fulfilling orders and managing inventory.

Essential qualities:

⁃ Caring, kind and empathetic, absolutely trustworthy and reliable.

⁃ Quick learner, self-motivated and enjoy working independently.

⁃ Excellent written and verbal communication, and strong computer skills, for sending considerate emails and messages with photo attachments and managing inventory.

⁃ Highly organised and strong attention to detail. Able to manage multiple lines of communication at once, with customer correspondence and orders across multiple channels.

- Strong understanding of hair colours and textures, and ability to trim hair confidently. Experience with hair dressing does not need to be extensive (e.g. could be that you started a job in hairdressing and it was not for you).

⁃ Passion for our mission to help people experiencing hair loss.

Desirable qualities (non-essential):

⁃ Experience working in retail or e-commerce such as Etsy or Shopify, and/or with small business administration, customer service or marketing.

⁃ Experience with website and content creation (e.g. creating videos, editing photos on Canva), social media, and photography are also desirable.

- Creative eye and strong understanding of style and love of hats, hair and fashion.
