Our client, a Federal Government Department responsible for administering a specific type of law in Australia is seeking a Storage and Backup Engineer to join their team in January 2026.

Duties:

• Design & Implement Storage Solutions: Architect and deploy enterprise-level storage and backup solutions spanning on-premises and cloud environments (SAN/NAS systems, cloud storage services).
• Backup Strategy & Management: Develop, execute, and maintain backup policies and procedures; monitor backup jobs daily for success/failure; optimize schedules and methods for efficiency.
• Disaster Recovery Planning: Create and update disaster recovery plans; conduct periodic backup recovery tests and drills to verify successful data recovery within RPO/RTO targets.
• System Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor health, performance, and capacity of storage and backup infrastructure; tune systems for optimal performance and plan for future growth.

Skills & Experience:

• On-Premises Storage Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing on-premises storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS), with specific hands-on experience configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting NetApp storage solutions in enterprise environments.
• Cloud Storage Expertise: Proven ability to manage cloud storage technologies (AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage), including integration with on-premises systems and ensuring secure, scalable data management.
• Backup & Recovery Management: Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise backup solutions using tools such as Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, AWS Backup, or Azure Recovery Services. Includes disaster recovery planning and conducting recovery drills.
• Security & Compliance: Ability to implement secure backup storage (encryption at rest and in transit), manage access controls, and ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., GDPR, ASD Essential 8).
