Why Work with Us?

At Main Roads we are committed to delivering a world-class road network and creating positive, lasting impacts for WA communities. We play a critical role in overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of major roads and highways across the State.

We work closely with our portfolio partners, Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, and Public Transport Authority as well as local governments to support the needs of all road users across the state by providing an integrated world-class road transport network. As we continue to grow and improve, we are seeking an experienced Project Programming Manager to join our team.

About the opportunity:

Main Roads is currently seeking a committed and motivated professional with strong technical capability and well-developed communication skills to fulfill these key program management roles.

As a Project Programming Manager, you will contribute to the development and review of business cases, project proposals, project estimates, programming of major infrastructure projects and demonstrate a strong understanding and commitment to the safe system approach, including the road safety engineering.

You will liaise closely with Australian Government representatives to manage the approval process for major Commonwealth funded projects, and to ensure effective program management and progress reporting on project programs, budgets and progress.

You will coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery and Regional Management Directorate, to develop work programs, while effectively managing competing priorities. Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills are essential for collaborating efficiently across various stakeholders and ensuring successful project programming outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Have comprehensive experience in program development and management for major infrastructure projects, including management of scope and cost at both project and program level

Possess a sound understanding of project cost estimation practices and principles

Understand project evaluation and prioritisation methods

Have strong negotiation and facilitation skills

Be able to build and enhance relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

What We Offer:

At Main Roads, you can have a challenging, flexible and rewarding career that takes you exactly where you want to go with an organisation who supports a healthy work-life balance to help with what is important to you.

In addition to rewarding work, and the security of a permanent position, some of the benefits of working with Main Roads include:

Option to work 37.5hrs or 40 hours per week

Competitive salaries, including 12% superannuation

Flexible working arrangements

Attractive leave provisions, such as leave loading and purchase leave

Access to long service leave after 7 years of continuous service

Training and development opportunities

Health and wellbeing focus.
