The Role

Operating in a fast-paced, strategically significant environment, the role demands a high-performing, self-motivated individual who can drive excellence, influence Defence Industry, and adapt to evolving priorities. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure logistics operations are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage acquisition and logistics projects across MEOSPO product lines, ensuring alignment with Defence capability objectives;
  • Oversee project and asset management to upkeep, update and upgrade inventories; including procurement, sparing, maintenance planning, warehousing, transportation, inventory control, and disposal;
  • Provide strategic direction and coordination to logistics teams, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of support solutions;
  • Engage with Defence Industry, vendors, international partners and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration and innovation;
  • Manage contracts and supplier performance in accordance with Defence procurement and logistics standards;
  • Prepare high-level reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership and government stakeholders;
  • Drive continuous improvement and apply lessons learned to enhance logistics effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and security regulations.

Daily Tasks May Include:

  • Leading a team, managing workflow, allocating resources, and setting priorities;
  • Preparing timely, high-quality reports and documentation related to Defence project management;
  • Coordinating project activities using recognised project management practices and methodologies;
  • Supporting and mentoring team members, aligning skills and resources to deliver results;
  • Representing, advocating, and negotiating on behalf of MEOSPO to achieve project outcomes;
  • Analysing and interpreting project performance against plans and implementing strategies to ensure success.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. MEOSPO is an integral part of GWEO Maritime & Maintenance Branch, which is part of the Guided Weapons Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance System Division. Our team consists of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services). We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Melbourne and Stirling, and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.
