About this role
Our client is looking for a Manager Parks & Open Spaces who is responsible for leading the strategic planning, operational management, and sustainable development of Council’s parks, gardens, open spaces, natural areas, cemeteries, and urban forestry assets. The position ensures these assets are safe, functional, environmentally sustainable, and contribute to the liveability and wellbeing of the community. In addition, the Manager Parks and Open Spaces oversee Council’s depot operations to support effective service delivery across the organisation.

CHRC is the local government authority covering a large region in central Queensland including towns such as Emerald, Springsure, Capella. They manage major community infrastructure and services including libraries, aquatic centres, customer service centres, parks & gardens as well as providing essential utilities like water, sewerage, waste-collection and recycling services.

Role Requirements

• Tertiary Qualifications in Business, Community Studies, Horticultural, Social or in a relevant field coupled with significant experience (5 years) in a similar leadership role is essential.
• Demonstrated engaged leadership skills with the ability to drive positive organisational and cultural change management across multi-faceted teams.
• A proven ability to analyse, facilitate, collaborate, and work with conflict in order to communicate, negotiate and consult at appropriate levels within the council, community and private sector.
• Demonstrated accountability of overseeing departmental budgets and the delivery of associated strategic plans.
