We are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead a Financial Management Improvement (FMI) Project focused on uplifting financial management capability across a large, complex QLD Government organisation.

This role sits within a major Financial Management Improvement Program, designed to improve financial accuracy, efficiency, and transparency across operations. It’s a high-profile initiative within a division responsible for delivering one of Queensland’s largest and most diverse portfolios of projects.

The Role

You’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of the FMI Project, applying strong governance, planning, and stakeholder engagement to embed sustainable financial management practices and support long-term organisational maturity uplift.

Responsibilities

• Developing and managing project plans, schedules, and governance documentation
• Leading and coordinating project teams to deliver within agreed scope, time, and budget
• Identifying and managing project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests
• Preparing high-quality reports, dashboards, and governance packs for executives
• Partnering closely with the Organisational Change Manager to embed new ways of working
• Driving continuous improvement and consistency across financial management practices

Skills required

• Minimum 5 years’ experience leading complex business or transformation projects
• Experience in financial management, process improvement, or audit-driven uplift projects
• Proven success working with multiple workstreams and senior stakeholder groups
• Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills,
• A hands-on, delivery-focused approach with the ability to influence across all levels
• PRINCE2, AgilePM, or equivalent will be well regarded
