The City of Karratha is seeking an Indigenous Development Advisor to provide culturally informed mentoring, coaching, and wellbeing support to Indigenous trainees and apprentices.

About the role:

The Indigenous Development Advisor is responsible for providing mentoring, coaching, and wellbeing support to Indigenous trainees and apprentices within the City of Karratha.

The position ensures trainees and apprentices are supported to successfully complete their training and employment goals through regular engagement, practical assistance, and culturally appropriate guidance.

The role also maintains accurate documentation and reporting to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Position Objectives:

• The Indigenous Development Advisor provides culturally appropriate mentoring, coaching, wellbeing, and practical support to Indigenous trainees and apprentices.
• The position plays a key role in ensuring trainees are supported to achieve their learning and employment goals through regular engagement, wellbeing support, and workplace guidance.
• This role is also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, data collection, and reporting to support compliance with the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) programme grant requirements through the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
• The position works closely with trainees and apprentices, supervisors, training providers, and community stakeholders to promote a culturally safe and inclusive workplace environment across the City of Karratha.

As this role is linked to Grant Funding, eligible candidates must be a resident of Karratha AND meet one of the following criteria:

• A Remote Employment Services (RES) participant
• A job seeker eligible for RES
• Aged between 15 and 24 years old
• Participant in the New Jobs Program Trial (NJPT) or Community Development Program (CDP) Trials.
