About the Role:
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on leadership role overseeing all aspects of financial management, compliance, and reporting. You’ll lead a team of five, partnering closely with operations, manufacturing, and R&D teams to deliver actionable insights that support sustainable growth.This is an excellent opportunity for a CA/CPA-qualified professional who enjoys both strategic influence and operational involvement — and who’s ready to make a meaningful impact in a growing Australian manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day financial operations including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and cashflow management.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and the Board.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes, providing insights that drive performance, cost control, and margin improvement.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including BAS, FBT, income tax, and R&D tax incentive requirements.
- Manage external audit processes and liaise with auditors, accountants, and regulatory bodies.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and reporting systems to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Support pricing, costings, and capital investment decisions through robust financial evaluation and analysis.
- Manage manufacturing and inventory reporting, ensuring accurate stock valuations, reconciliations, and COGS analysis.
- Track and report R&D expenditure in line with regulatory and funding requirements.
- Partner closely with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of five across finance, procurement, customer service, and administration.
- Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the finance and business support functions.
- Contribute to broader business strategy through proactive financial planning, analysis, and Board reporting.
About You
You are a strategic yet hands-on finance leader who thrives on variety and responsibility. You combine strong technical accounting expertise with commercial acumen and the confidence to engage at every level of the business — from the production floor to the boardroom. You’re motivated by driving growth, improving systems, and influencing business outcomes through insightful financial leadership.
As someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, growing organisation, you’re equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to solve day-to-day challenges as you are presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership. You take pride in building capable teams, streamlining processes, and ensuring financial integrity across all areas of the business.
You’ll bring:
- CA or CPA qualification and at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within the manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural sectors.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience partnering with operations, sales, and executive leadership.
- Solid understanding of financial compliance including tax, BAS, FBT, audits, and statutory reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory, costing, and manufacturing reporting.
- Hands-on experience managing budgets, forecasts, and financial modelling to support decision-making.
- Exposure to R&D tax incentives and reporting, or experience within an innovation-focused business.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with the CEO and Board.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, with the ability to enhance or transition financial systems as the business evolves.
- A proactive mindset, strong integrity, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
