An exciting opportunity has become available to join a highly respected and multi-award-winning property development and construction group based in Brisbane. Sapphire Recruitment is proud to be partnering exclusively with this exceptional business to find their next Financial Controller.
Operating across the full lifecycle of development from construction to asset management, the business has a long history of delivering exceptional and well known large scale projects. Reporting directly to the CFO and leading a small but highly capable finance team, you will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end accounting, compliance, tax and reporting functions across the group.
In a rare opportunity, this role is being seen as a successor to the current CFO. It will be ideally suited to a commercially minded and detail-oriented finance professional with prior experience in the property development of construction sector.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the monthly preparation and analysis of management accounts across construction, development, and asset management divisions
Liaise with construction and project managers regarding project cost reviews and cost forecasts
Ensure compliance with QBCC Minimum Financial Requirements, the Building Industry Fairness (BIF) Act, and associated regulatory obligations
Coordinate treasury and cash flow across multiple bank accounts, ensuring sufficient funds for operational and project needs
Prepare quarterly group results, forecasts, and annual budgets
Drive the year-end financial statement process for all entities in accordance with relevant reporting requirements
Oversee FBT and tax return processes in collaboration with external tax advisors
Lead the preparation and lodgement of BAS across multiple tax groups
Ensure accuracy and integrity of key financial systems
Lead and mentor a small finance team, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
CA/CPA qualification with 8+ years' post-qualification experience
Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally within property development or construction.
Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, tax compliance and regulatory reporting
Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with project managers, operational leads, and executive stakeholders
Exposure to industry based ERP systems such as Jobpac will be highly regarded, together with BI tools
