About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to lead the evaluation, development, and control of project schedules across complex energy and engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, scheduling, and progress measurement, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to plan.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, incorporating scope, constraints, and resources.
Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and detailed control schedules to support all phases of project execution.
Update and re-baseline schedules as required to reflect changes in scope, methodology, and execution strategies.
Work closely with cost control teams to align schedule and forecast data, ensuring accuracy in project reporting.
Conduct schedule analysis, progress measurement, and forecasting to support management decision-making.
Prepare detailed progress reports, including S-curves, manpower histograms, and project performance summaries.
Provide ongoing planning and scheduling support to engineering, procurement, fabrication, offshore hook-up, and commissioning teams.
Support resource forecasting across multiple disciplines and tenders to ensure effective project resourcing.
Identify and evaluate alternative work methods (“what-if” scenarios) to optimise project execution.
Develop and maintain Engineering and Construction Progress Measurement Systems (CPMS) in coordination with project and construction managers.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent tertiary qualification (preferred).
Recognised project planning or scheduling certification (preferred).
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of EPC and EPCM project planning requirements.
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
In-depth knowledge of project control principles, progress measurement, and reporting methodologies.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, including offshore hook-up and commissioning activities.
Proven experience in planning across engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
Exposure to onshore and offshore construction project environments is highly regarded.
Personal Attributes:
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Flexible, adaptable, and pragmatic approach to developing “fit-for-purpose” scheduling solutions.
Ability to critically assess and validate project plans and progress systems.
Additional Information
May be required to work extended hours to meet project deadlines.
Travel to onshore and offshore sites for monitoring and mentoring may be required.
