Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park ('Moonlit Sanctuary'), renowned for its commitment to conservation and exceptional wildlife experiences, is seeking a Volunteer Program & Operations Coordinator to join its growing team.

As Moonlit Sanctuary's Volunteer Program & Operations Coordinator, you would report to and be supported by the Manager of People and Culture, and responsible for the redesign and end-to-end coordination of volunteer programs in addition to providing administrative and operational support to the leadership team.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an organisation driven to achieve impactful outcomes for its people, the animals in our care, the environment and the visitor experience.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with People and Culture to co-design a program that meets both the National Volunteering Standards and Moonlit Sanctuary objectives.

Attract and engage volunteers across three new streams – Life Sciences (animals), Docent (visitor experience) and Horticulture (environment), ensuring that volunteers are well integrated and receive all relevant training, resources and support.

Be the main point of contact for Sanctuary staff regarding volunteers and for the volunteers themselves.

Maintain an accurate and up-to-date central database, ensuring compliance.

Facilitate volunteer engagement through clear and timely communication, providing resources and tools, training and development, and opportunities for social interaction.

Work with heads of department to identify future volunteer needs and opportunities, including during peak visitation times such as school holidays and weekends, or large projects on-the-go.

Regularly evaluate Volunteer Programs, monitoring progress and success, highlighting learnings and making improvements.

Provide defined administrative and operational support to the senior leadership team.

What we're looking for

Qualifications in volunteer coordination, human resources, business administration or similar, or equivalent workplace experience. Previous experience coordinating a volunteer program would be well-regarded.

An ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and community members.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritise workload.

Confidence with computer software and cloud-based applications including Microsoft office and collaboration software. Experience with Volunteer Management software would be well-regarded.

What we can offer you

A unique working environment full of welcoming and supportive colleagues (and furry, feathered and scaley friends).

Professional development opportunities.

Competitive salary and flexible work arrangements.

Generous employee discounts on all Moonlit Sanctuary services and products.
