About this exciting opportunity
As AIMS’ Health and Safety Advisor you will be responsible for providing advice, support and expertise to ensure that AIMS Leaders and their teams are meeting their work health and safety accountabilities across the diverse operational risk profile including controlled experimental facilities, specialty laboratories, fieldwork (marine and land-based), remote area work, maintenance and facilities.
This role will see you perform routine duties which include safety management system reviews, supporting and implementing WH&S initiatives and processes, risk and incident management, governance and assurance, and other WHS activities in support of AIMS operations.
About you
As Health and Safety advisor you will have strong knowledge and experience coupled with relevant qualifications of work, health and safety legislation, contemporary practices, regulatory requirements, and data analysis whilst supporting all aspects of our work in a scientific research environment.
You are able to build strong relationships and engage with workers at all levels, including senior leaders to provide practical support and guidance of both psychosocial and physical risk management, incident investigation and the development of safe work practices.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in the development and application of WHS systems and software and strong communication and literacy skills to develop WHS training, information and learning materials. Previous experience in early intervention, injury management, rehabilitation and return to work relevant to a scientific research environment coupled with Qualifications in Advanced First Aid, Mental Health First Aid is highly desirable.

- AIMS AOF Level 4 salary ($97,503 to $110,957 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
