Exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join a new initiative with Wunan Health and Wellbeing Centre
Location: Kununurra, East Kimberley, WA
Employment Type: Full-time (12-month contract, with potential for extension)
We’re seeking an experienced Social Worker to join Wunan Health and Wellbeing and be part of our growing multidisciplinary team working together to strengthen access to holistic, culturally responsive and coordinated care.

Wunan Health and Wellbeing Centre is a purpose-driven social enterprise committed to supporting the health and wellbeing needs of all our community. Our primary health care services include an accredited private GP clinic, integrated with community services in youth mental health (headspace), disability advocacy and our new residential AOD withdrawal service (KWIC). We are proudly owned by the Wunan Foundation, an Aboriginal-led NFP organisation working to drive positive change and opportunity in the East Kimberley of WA.

About the role
As a key member of our Allied Health team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting people living with chronic conditions to access integrated, wrap-around health and social services. You’ll work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, allied health assistants and allied health professionals to ensure service users experience coordinated, seamless care across programs and services.
This role includes direct supervision of the Allied Health Assistant (AHA) role, providing leadership, mentorship and support to help build a sustainable, skilled local workforce.
Your work will include
- Providing psychosocial assessments, advocacy, care planning and coordination
- Supporting individuals to navigate health, social and community services
- Building strong, trusting relationships through trauma-informed, responsive care
- Facilitating integrated support across multiple Wunan Foundation programs
- Delivering education sessions to improve health literacy and self-management
- Leading, mentoring and supervising an Allied Health Assistant
- Strengthening culturally responsive, holistic service delivery across Wunan

About you
You’re a compassionate, qualified Social Worker who thrives in a collaborative environment and believes in holistic, person-centred care. You’ll bring experience working in complex systems and a deep understanding of how health and social determinants shape people’s health and wellbeing. You will have:
- A degree in Social Work and eligibility for AASW membership
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong understanding of integrated, multidisciplinary team care
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to culturally responsive practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Confidence using electronic health record systems and Microsoft 365
- A Medicare provider number (highly desirable)
- Ability to commence late December 2025
