About the Opportunity
The Theatre Booking Officers are responsible for completing day-to-day functions in conjunction with MLHD Centralised Waitlist and Perioperative Departments. This includes the booking of operating theatre suites at the Health Service, theatre allocations to maximise theatre utilisation and maintenance of an accurate MLHD Centralised Wait List.
MLHD have two exciting positions available for Theatre Booking Officers:
One based in Wagga Wagga - working 8 hours per week
One based in Griffith – permanent full time position (job share may be considered)
As the Theatre Booking Officer, you will:
Ensure accurate patient identification and data entry into the Patient Administration System (IPM)
Provide all relevant notification and information to both patients and doctors in relation to the Hospital Wait List and waiting times
Allocate planned admission dates for patients on the waiting list for elective surgery in order of clinical priority and waiting time to ensure equity of access
Ensure all patients are notified of rescheduled theatre lists in a timely manner, and are rebooked for the next available date within their waiting time
Prepare daily Theatre schedules and distribute weekly elective admission lists to VMO rooms and Surgical and Patient Flow Managers
Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times, particularly regarding release of information

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Demonstrated high standard of both written & verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated successful application of computer packages.
Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to work under pressure with limited supervision, whilst coordinating multiple tasks.
Demonstrated successful experience in negotiation and conflict resolution.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology and the knowledge of surgical procedures and the duration of these procedures or the ability to quickly learn these.
