The Team:
Peacock 3 is a 20 bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit (GEM) within the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). The RHH is the largest hospital in Tasmania. GEM is where the primary clinical purpose of the admission is improvement in the functioning of a patient with multi-dimensional needs associated with age-related medical conditions. Care includes an individualised multidisciplinary assessment and management plan. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team, informed by a clinician with GEM expertise
The Role:
Assist nursing staff to -
- meet the daily living needs of patients including showering, toileting, grooming and feeding.
- lifting and repositioning if patients
- plan, develop and implement diversional therapy programs for patients
Participate and contribute to staff meetings, ongoing education, quality improvement and orientation of new staff
Maintain patient/carer confidentiality.
You will need:
- Completion of, or working towards, an approved Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or equivalent, together with previous practical experience in providing personal care services to the frail, aged and/or people living with a disability in a residential/community setting or a health care related field.
- Ability to contribute to the evaluation, development and implementation of diversional therapy programs.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain a rapport with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds, including those with a disability, dementia or cognitive/behavioural issues.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
