The Position
The Community Recovery Rebuild Support Officer plays a vital role in helping disaster-impacted residents across the Cassowary Coast rebuild their homes and lives. Reporting to the Principal Community Development and Advocacy, this position works closely with the Recovery and Resilience Team, Building and Planning Services, and Communications Team to provide coordinated and compassionate support throughout the recovery process.
The role focuses on ensuring residents have timely access to clear information, practical guidance, and personalised assistance to navigate rebuilding and recovery pathways. A key responsibility will be identifying communication gaps and helping Council deliver consistent, transparent, and accessible information about rebuilding processes, approvals, and available support services.
About You
Tertiary or vocational qualification in community development, social work, project management, communications, or equivalent experience.
Experience in disaster recovery, community development, case management, or engagement programs.
Skilled in developing and delivering clear communication and engagement strategies for diverse audiences.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities, grants, and program administration.
Collaborative team player with experience working across internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to improvement.
Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to planning, WHS, privacy, and recovery.
Knowledge of key disaster recovery frameworks and plans (AIDR, QLD Recovery Plan, National M&E Framework).
Current Queensland C Class driver’s licence.
