Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a full-time Mechanical Designer with machinery design experience.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

Design machinery utilising engineering principles, knowledge and related mechanical design experience.

Provide technical calculations and direction to an engineering team.

Consult with our other engineers to provide valuable input to key system designs.

Create models using 3D modelling software.

Size mechanical equipment such as extruders, mixing equipment, support platforms, hydraulics, conveyors and piping.

Review bid specifications, detailed drawings, technical manuals and bill of materials.

Create technical engineering documentation such as manuals, SOPs and risk assessments.

Communicate between an engineering team, production, sales, suppliers and clients about projects.

Essential requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mechanical design experience, preferably heavy industrial, process equipment and/or material handling.

Experienced use of design to Australian Standards. (AS 4024.1 highly regarded)

Competency in 3D CAD modelling and detailing.

A willingness to get involved and hands on mechanical equipment, testing and trials.

Current/Eligible for Victorian Engineers Registration as Professional Engineer – Mechanical

Victorian Drivers License and own transport.

Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Desirable requirements:

CPEng or RPEng Qualified, or current NER listing.

Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

Experience with steel structure design, pneumatics, hydraulics, water systems are all very highly valued.

Previous experience in a similar role.
