About Us

Conry Tech is reinventing air-conditioning to improve comfort and efficiency through our patented BullAnt technology — a hyper-efficient, decentralised HVAC system designed and built here in Melbourne. Our mission is to decarbonise the built environment and make air-conditioning more sustainable.

We’re a venture-backed team of serial entrepreneurs who previously transformed the HVAC industry through breakthrough technologies that became global market leaders. Now we’re growing a small, multidisciplinary team of innovators who thrive on solving complex problems, working hands-on, and turning bold ideas into reality. With air-conditioning responsible for around 15% of global emissions, we’re accelerating development to bring our sustainable comfort solution to market faster.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a versatile and driven Senior Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineer to help take the BullAnt from advanced prototype to field trials and early manufacturing.

You’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle — from concept and design through build, test, validation, and manufacturing. You’ll develop key subsystems such as valves, heat exchangers, and compressors, applying sound engineering fundamentals and a practical understanding of manufacturing processes to create robust, efficient, and production ready.

This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role working alongside mechanical, controls, and electronics engineers to build a cohesive, high-performance system. You’ll have the autonomy to make meaningful design decisions, the freedom to experiment with new ideas, and the satisfaction of seeing your work evolve from prototype to market leading product, with an opportunity to share in the company’s success as it scales.

Key Responsibilities

· Mechanical Design & Engineering

Lead the design of subsystem components suitable for machining, casting, injection moulding, and additive manufacturing.

Apply DFM/DFA principles from the start — designing with tool clearances, draft angles, tolerances, and assembly fit in mind.

Perform detailed calculations, models, and simulations to ensure performance, reliability, and cost objectives are met.

· Manufacturing & Supplier Collaboration

Work closely with suppliers and fabricators to balance innovative designs with manufacturability, serviceability, robustness, repeatability, and quality in production.

Support transition from prototype builds to scalable manufacturing, including documentation and testing processes.

Contribute to the machining, tooling and assembly methods needed to streamline manufacturing.

· Build, Test & Validate:

Design and assemble test rigs, fixtures, and data acquisition systems for subsystem and system evaluation.

Conduct hands-on prototype builds, machining and assembly, using hand tools, lathes, drill press, and CNC equipment

Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to inform continuous improvement.

· Integration & Innovation:

Collaborate across electronics and software disciplines to develop cohesive and integrated electromechanical systems.

Take initiative to identify and drive creative improvements to enhance performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

Contribute innovative ideas that advance the BullAnt toward a world-leading commercial product.

What You’ll Bring

· Technical Expertise:

o Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent)

o 5+ years in mechanical design, ideally including full product development cycles.

o Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals: structural design, materials, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.

Proven experience designing for manufacturability across machining, injection moulding, casting, and 3D printing.

Hands-on prototyping and testing experience, with a solid understanding of electromechanical interfaces.

· Software:

o Proficiency in 3D modelling and 2D drafting, SolidWorks preferred.

o Proficiency in GD&T (principles, reading, interpreting, and applying).

o Experience using Python for data analysis, test automation, and system integration.

· Collaboration and Leadership:

Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and complex projects.

Practical, detail-oriented engineer who designs with production and assembly in mind.

Effective communicator who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, and can articulate technical ideas clearly and help guide decision-making.

· Problem-Solving Mindset:

A proactive, self-starting attitude with a passion for tackling challenges and creating solutions who enjoys creative iteration and hands-on experimentation.

Experience optimizing systems for cost and performance, with a focus on cohesive, integrated designs.

Preferred Qualifications

· Proficiency with FEA and CFD

· Familiarity with refrigeration or HVAC systems

· Thermal and heat transfer simulation experience

· Knowledge of basic control systems theory, including PID controllers
