Position Overview

Employment Mentors play a vital role in walking alongside the people we support as they explore and pursue their employment goals.
This hands-on role combines coaching, problem-solving, and advocacy — helping people develop skills, build confidence, and connect with real opportunities in their community.
Mentors work flexibly, both one-on-one and in small groups, to support each person in identifying their strengths, developing work readiness skills, and creating pathways to meaningful, sustainable employment or microenterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Support and Mentoring

Provide individualised support to help people identify and work toward their employment or business goals.

Use a person-centred approach that empowers choice, independence, and self-direction.

Support people to build skills such as time management, communication, budgeting, and workplace behaviours.

Assist with resumes, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.

Provide on-the-job coaching where needed, helping people settle into and succeed in their chosen roles.

Community and Employer Engagement

Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers, community organisations, and training providers.

Promote inclusive employment practices and help employers understand how to support a diverse workforce.

Conduct workplace assessments, recommend job design adjustments, and identify reasonable accommodations or assistive technologies.

Program Delivery and Reporting

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records, reports, and progress notes in line with organisational policies.

Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager and team to share updates, risks, and success stories.

Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing ideas and feedback from on-the-ground experience.

Team Collaboration and Professionalism

Work collaboratively within a supportive team environment that values transparency, respect, and flexibility.

Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required.

Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and integrity in all interactions with clients, families, employers, and colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).

Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).

Experience supporting people with disability, barriers to work, or in employment/training settings.

Any amount of experience supporting people with disability or barriers to work is acceptable for this position.

Understanding of person-centred practice and inclusive workplace principles.

Demonstrated ability to practically apply person-centred practice principles in real-world settings.

Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, Employment Services, or related field (desirable but not essential).

Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport.
