🧠 Male Support Worker – Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (Perth Metro) Employer: Believe in Better Pty Ltd Location: Perth Metropolitan Area (including Armadale, Middle Swan and Duncraig) Employment Type: Casual / Part-time (regular ongoing shifts) Pay Range: $36–$45 per hour (plus superannuation, allowances and mileage)

🌱 About the Role

Believe in Better is seeking compassionate, grounded, and professional male support workers to join our growing team. This role involves supporting adults living with complex psychosocial disabilities, including depression, anxiety, and experiences of paranoia, who benefit from calm, consistent, and respectful support to feel safe, connected, and engaged in daily life.

You will provide one-on-one support with community activities, helping participants strengthen confidence, stability, and independence. This role suits someone who values authentic connection, reliability, and patient encouragement while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

As part of our person-centred approach, the participant will be involved in the interview process to ensure a comfortable and compatible support match.

🧩 Key Responsibilities:

Provide personalised, 1:1 psychosocial support in the home and community Encourage participation in meaningful activities such as walking, shopping, recreation, and social engagement. Support emotional wellbeing through active listening, reassurance, and grounding techniques. Promote healthy routines through light domestic assistance, meal preparation, and structured daily planning.

Accompany participants to appointments and community settings, supporting safe engagement, apply trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practices to all interactions and maintain accurate, objective progress notes and communicate relevant updates to the coordination team.

You are patient, dependable, and emotionally intelligent, with the ability to bring calm, consistency, and understanding to each interaction.

Essential Requirements: Experience supporting individuals living with complex mental health challenges, you have a sound understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centred approaches. Capacity to support emotional regulation and manage moments of distress calmly and safely, with excellent communication skills and respect for client autonomy and privacy.

Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check, or willing to obtain

Current First Aid and CPR certification Current driver’s licence and comprehensive insurance Reliable, roadworthy vehicle suitable for community transport

Highly Regarded:

Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Mental Health, Community Services or a related field

Experience supporting individuals with low motivation, social withdrawal, or limited community confidence
