Several vacancies are available, either ongoing or fixed for up to 18 months

As a Midwife Clinical Specialist, you will work on-call as the primary midwife, providing continuity of care to a caseload of women, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for up to six weeks. You’ll deliver collaborative, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care within a primary health care framework, supporting women with pregnancies complicated by psychosocial and/or obstetric risk, as well as women planning to birth at home and contribute to mentoring of less-experienced staff.

About the Midwifery Group Practice

The Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) is located at Royal Darwin Hospital and provides women-centred, culturally safe care through a continuity-of-care model from early pregnancy to six weeks postpartum. Women are supported by a small team of midwives—often with a primary midwife—and can choose to birth at home or in hospital, depending on preferences, eligibility and staffing availability. MGP provides flexible clinic and home visits, and 24/7 midwife phone support.

About you

You’re passionate about woman-centred care and committed to clinical excellence. To be successful you will have:

Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.

Proven high-level clinical knowledge and skills in Midwifery or related field, supported by strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Commitment to a learning culture through clinical guidance and mentoring.

Experience supporting local/ regional policy development, interpreting policy and precedent, and contributing to change management initiatives.

Well-developed understanding of social and cultural factors influencing client and family health care.
