Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Governance & Risk Coordinator to lead the development and delivery of strategic governance initiatives and enhance compliance and risk management frameworks across Council operations.

• Competitive salary under the QLD Local Government Industry Award ( Stream A – Level 7 (OAP) - $100,000 to $109,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.
• 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)

What You’ll Do

• Develop and manage governance and risk frameworks across the organisation.
• Coordinate policy reviews, internal controls, and regulatory compliance activities
• Oversee the Audit & Risk Committee and internal audit function.
• Maintain strategic and operational risk registers.
• Provide advice on legal matters, privacy, fraud prevention, and public interest disclosures.
• Ensure Council meets all relevant legislative and reporting requirements.
• Lead governance training and build a culture of accountability and integrity.

Qualifications Needed

Mandatory:

• A current Police Clearance

Desirable:

• Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
• Experience in governance, compliance, or risk within local government or a similar sector.
• A current and unrestricted C class driver’s licence.
• Pre-employment medical (fitness for work) may be required.
