About Us:
MainStream Aquaculture is a rapidly growing aquaculture business that produces and sells Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) products for Australia and internationally. We are pleased to offer an opportunity for the right candidate to join our Queensland team as a regional manager.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of daily aquaculture operations, ensuring efficient, sustainable and profitable production.
Responsible for meeting production targets while maintaining high standards of fish/water quality, safety and environmental stewardship.
Prepare reports on growth performance, feed conversion and production efficiency
Analyse operational data and implement improvements to maximize yield and profitability
Support trials to improve feed efficiency, growth rates and performance
Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of 12–20 staff, including direct reports from Farming, Operations, and Maintenance Leads.
Champion a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the site.
Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring compliance with structured farming protocols while adapting to environmental and biological variables.
Take full accountability for delivering site performance against commercial targets, including Profit & Loss and capital expenditure programs.
Implement and manage systematic operational and risk management processes to ensure farm sustainability, biosecurity, and performance.
Manage the farm’s license to operate, including:
Ensuring regulatory compliance with all relevant environmental, biosecurity, and workplace safety obligations.
Maintaining strong relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and local communities to uphold the farm’s social license to operate.
Leading audits, reporting, and liaison with government agencies and community groups
About You
A proven leader with strong people and team management skills, able to motivate, coach, and develop diverse individuals and crews.
Safety-first mindset with a deep understanding of operational risk and compliance.
Commercially astute with direct experience managing budgets, P&L statements, and capital investment projects.
Strong capability in systematic operations management, including process control, performance monitoring, and contingency response planning.
Adaptive and pragmatic in facing environmental and biological variability typical of aquaculture operations.
Experience in managing regulatory obligations and stakeholder engagement as part of an organisation’s license to operate.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in operational management roles, ideally in primary production, agriculture, aquaculture, food processing, or similar.
Experience in aquaculture would benefit but is not essential.

Remuneration
$130,000 – $160,000 + super (depending on experience)
We offer a highly competitive package designed to attract top talent.
Flexible arrangements can be tailored for the right candidate, which may incorporate housing and vehicle benefits.
Exceptional experience will be recognized with remuneration at the higher end of the range.
