This is a great opportunity for a seasoned People and Culture Adviser to join our great organisation, and lead the way in developing our people and culture function, ensuring compliance, and enhancing employee engagement across the organisation. This position requires an experienced self-starter with a high level of initiative, capable of navigating ambiguity and working closely with the CEO and our broader team to implement HR best practices, and grow and develop our people and culture.

Opportunity to be a key part of Humpty’s future growth:

Given Humpty’s strong strategic focus on growth and expansion, there will also be opportunities for this role to work closely with the CEO on organisational wide projects and initiatives. These initiatives will largely shape and define the foundations that will enable Humpty to deliver on its strategic milestones.

This is a full-time role with hybrid working arrangements that meet the needs of both the successful candidate and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.

Based in Crows Nest close to the new Metro station.

Key Responsibilities:

1. People and Culture Strategy

o Work alongside the CEO to develop and implement a people and culture strategy.

o Embed the strategy across the business through key milestones and the performance management system.

o Ensure Humpty values are clearly relatable in the actions of the employees (employee behaviours).

2. Recruitment & Onboarding:

o Manage the end-to-end recruitment process to attract and retain talent aligned with our values.

o Oversee the induction of all new starters, embedding the Humpty DNA to ensure a strong cultural fit from day one.

2. Employment Documentation:
○ Prepare and maintain accurate employment documentation for all staff including generating letters of offer, employment contracts and employment variations for all employees.

3. Policy and Procedure Development:

o Develop and maintain employment policies and procedures, as well as the employee handbook, ensuring compliance with relevant HR legislation (e.g., Respect at Work).

o Transition from current supplier of HR templates and policies to an in-house framework by the end of the contract period.

4. Employee Engagement:

o Support the resolution of employee relations issues, fostering a positive workplace environment.

o Coordinate and help implement culture-building initiatives and employee engagement activities.

o Serve as a trusted adviser to the CEO on matters of engagement, culture, and performance.

o Continuous improvement of people processes

5. Performance Management:

o Implement a new performance management framework and process, that encourages and records employee development and accountability.

o Design and develop a workshop to coach people leaders on how to effectively manage and develop their team’s performance.

o Work with the CEO to develop KPI’s for all Humpty roles.

o Advise and coach leaders on how best to manage employees who are not meeting performance expectations.

o Conflict resolution & mediation

6. Payroll Collaboration:

o Work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.

7. Administrative Support:

o Provide people and culture administrative support to the CEO as needed.

o Prepare reports for the CEO and/or Board as required, providing insights into HR metrics and initiatives.

8. HR Systems

o Transition from current supplier of HR templates and policies to an in-house framework by the end of the contract period aligned to the implementation of the HR system Rippling.

9. Team Collaboration:

o Actively participate as a team player, assisting the broader Humpty team during busy periods, such as major events and campaigns.

10. Volunteer Support:

o Support our vast volunteer network, ensuring their induction aligns with the Humpty DNA.

Skills and Experience

A minimum of 5 years HR/P&C experience and proven working knowledge of designing and embedding culture change programs and HR policies and initiatives. The most recent experience being in a senior HR or P&C capacity.

Strong understanding of Australian HR legislation and compliance requirements.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in policy development and implementation.

Proficient in HRIS and payroll systems.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams.

Desirable

Previous experience in a not-for-profit organisation.
