Assistant Director, Community Operated OSHC / OOSH | Como West, South Sydney
A great step up for someone ready to lead. Solid team around you, strong mentor in place, and a community driven, well resourced service.
If you’re proactive and want the space to do things well? This could be the role you’ve been waiting for.
About the Role
This is a full time (38hrs per week) position with a clear morning focus to start.
You’ll lead the team from the start of each day (6:45am) and handle key admin tasks like rolls, bookings, compliance, and supporting the service’s transition to OWNA. With the Director taking the lead for the afternoons and more closes, this is your space to own - with support and mentoring always there when needed.
There’s potential to step into Educational Leader duties down the track if you're ready to grow in that direction.
About the Service
- No risk of tender – long standing, community led service (P&C)
- Own dedicated space on school site
- Well resourced and great / supportive school
This is a stand alone, school based OSHC that’s community run by a dedicated P&C. You won’t be just another cog in a big provider - the team here is close knit, the children are known and respected, and the space is well equipped and ready for someone who wants to bring ideas to life.
Set in its own separate building with a deck, large outdoor space, and great resources - the service also benefits from a genuinely collaborative relationship with the school and principal.
There’s no politics here. Just a strong team, a well run space, and a chance to make a meaningful impact every day.
Who This Role Suits
- You’ve got 2-3 + years experience in OSHC and are ready to step into more responsibility
- You’re confident on the floor - leading by example and guiding a team
- You’re a morning person - reliable and organised for those early starts
- You enjoy both active time with children and the admin that keeps things running smoothly
- You bring energy, initiative, and a can do attitude - not just maintaining, but improving
- You’re physically capable - this is a hands on role with plenty of movement
- You’re open to mentoring and growth, with a long term view to grow
- You bring something extra - whether its creativity, systems thinking, or leadership
- Bonus: you’ve used OWNA or a similar platform (or you're happy to learn)
Why You’ll Want This Role
- Strong, experienced Director who will support and mentor you
- Trusted autonomy with daily structure and consistent routines
- Real opportunity to grow into Educational Leader
- Supportive, drama-free team culture where everyone pitches in
- Consistent cohort of children and great school relationship
- Manageable numbers - around 30 - 50 children, quieter mornings
- Community based = values led, not profit driven
- Low complexity and strong school connection.
Conditions & Pay:
- Up to $45 per hour + broken shift allowance + super
- Fulltime, 38 hrs week
- Broken shifts to start, but happy to review and build in blocks as you settle in
- Strong likelihood of service growth, meaning more potential progression / likelyhood of blocks
Child Safeguarding:
Looking for an individual that will understand, adhere to, and promote The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (the Child Safe Standards). In your position, you will help to take action to promote child wellbeing and prevent harm to children and young people.
Child safeguarding methods for this position, could include, but are not limited to:
- A NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain.
- Thorough screening.
- Reference checks.
- A national criminal history check.
