Our client is a federal government department centrally located in Canberra, and known for its hybrid working environment and positive culture.
The Opportunity
This is a non-ongoing 12-month contract with the potential to become permanent. It presents a good opportunity to further develop your skills, and lead the financial operations function. It is also an ideal opportunity for a high-performing APS6 with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable experience in financial operations to broaden their experience within another federal government department.

The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating the financial operations function, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, while ensuring all processes run smoothly and comply with organisational policies and procedures
- Providing sound guidance to business areas, promoting a culture of policy compliance and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation among staff and stakeholders
- Supervising two team members while fostering an environment of continuous learning and development, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and training to succeed in their roles
The Ideal Person
The ideal candidate is an experienced Financial Operations Supervisor with hands-on experience in SAP or other financial systems and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
You are likely to have one of the following backgrounds:
- Previous or current experience in the Federal Government at the APS6 level, understand how Financial Operations work
- AP or AR team leader experience in Commonwealth entities or universities
- Financial operations working experience within a large organisation
To be eligible, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold a current Baseline security clearance.
Salary / Rate
- $96k - $111k + 15.4% Super
