About the Mint
The Royal Australian Mint is a small government agency working within the Commonwealth Government Portfolio of the Treasury. The Mint is a non-corporate Commonwealth Entity and is listed under the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act). The Mint is also covered by the Public Service Act 1999 (Cth) (PS Act).

The Royal Australian Mint makes coins and other minted products to serve the needs of the Australian economy, foreign countries, investors and collectors. We are stewards of a thriving national institution that showcases our Nations stories through the National Coin Collection, and a world class museum and gallery experience.

The Royal Australian Mint creates public value through a range of coining and minting-related activities. We play a key role in sharing the stories of Australia by recognising significant anniversaries, events, organisations and cultural perspectives through coins.

The Mint offers some of the most unique career opportunities within the public service, including roles such as:

• Machinery – operate and maintain minting critical machines.
• Coin Sculpting – design coins, medals, medallions, and token, etc.
• Graphic Design – design coin packaging materials, exhibition graphics, etc.
• Engineering – technical support and manufacturing operations.

About the Role
The Operations Team Leader is responsible for facilitating day-to-day operations including assisting with production scheduling, team resource planning, reporting, problem solving, and managing production outputs. The successful candidate will need to balance manufacturing priorities on both a made to order and forecast basis.

The duties of this position include:

1. Scheduling production work orders and managing potential schedule conflicts and other issues.
2. Coordinating the implementation of production schedule through team leaders and liaising with Mint stakeholders to ensure that production demands are met.
3. Advising management on the effectiveness of schedules and production, making recommendations where appropriate.
4. Developing, attaining and sustaining key performance indicators and performance measures in production.
5. Dealing with challenging manufacturing issues, problem solving, and recommending solutions to management on how to address those issues.
6. Using various Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to manage resources including the tracking of production schedule, equipment parts, manufacturing materials and orders.
7. Leading a team across multiple shifts and work areas.
8. Supporting junior team leaders with their management of staff and ensuring that standards, policies and procedures are followed. Giving feedback as necessary.
9. Managing and supporting growth and development of staff through their Individual Work Plans.
10. Facilitating and managing purchasing requirements for production.
11. Preparing and reviewing procedures, work instructions and reports.
12. Facilitating, drafting and reviewing risk assessments and related activities.
13. Model and promote a safe, inclusive, respectful and high performing workplace culture that reflects obligations under the WHS Act, the APS values and DRIVE Leadership behaviours.

About Royal Australian Mint

Deakin, ACT, Australia

The passing of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act empowered the Government to make laws with respect to currency, coinage and legal tender. The Coinage Act 1909 put in place the first steps for an Australian coinage. Thus began the journey towards a mint owned by the Commonwealth and independence from the branches of the Royal Mint.

The establishment of the Royal Australian Mint at its final site in Canberra followed propositions to place it near to the present National Library and on Camp Hill, between the Old Parliament House and Capital Hill. The Commonwealth Government approved the construction of the Mint in 1962 and construction commenced in 1963 on a site in the Canberra suburb of Deakin.
