The Opportunity

Research Development is responsible for coordinating applications and administering funds for externally and internally funded competitive research grants and fellowships, to build excellence in research which will improve the health and wellbeing of children.

Working with the Research Development team at The Kids Research Institute Australia and reporting to the Manager of Grants and Research Development, this role is integral in providing research grants administration and development support.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Research Development team for a Grants Development Officer or Senior Grants Development Officer (depending on experience) to join our collaborative and dynamic team.

The Grants Development Officer role would be well suited to a person with less experience in the area – potentially a researcher who wants to transition out of research but into a research-adjacent or support role. The Senior Grants Development Officer role would be well suited to a person who has experience in the role (or a very similar one).

In this role, your duties will include but are not limited to:

Managing the day-to-day operational aspects of the grant funding process, from development right through to submission.

Assisting researchers to identify and apply for funding opportunities including grants and fellowships.

Working with researchers to ensure grant applications are of the highest quality and ensuring research grants are submitted on time and comply with funding requirements.

Building and maintaining relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, funding bodies, and our university partners.

Conveniently based at Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this is a full-time, ongoing position.

About You

Does this sound like you?

To be successful in the role you will hold an undergraduate degree in Science or Communication, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training. Along with this, you will possess the following:

A customer focus with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including editorial skills.

Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to detail within deadlines in a high-volume environment.

Ability to work autonomously and proactively while also being able to work as part of a wider team.

Sound working knowledge of computing applications including research grants management systems (essential for the Senior Grants Development Officer).

Comprehensive knowledge of national and state competitive health research grant opportunities from government and non-government sources, in particular NHMRC and MRFF (essential for the Senior Grants Development Officer).

At The Kids Research Institute Australia, we are committed to building a workplace culture that reflects the communities we serve.
