The Role

A State Government department is seeking an experienced Payroll Compliance Lead to support process improvement and reporting within a fast-paced payroll function. You'll focus on identifying compliance gaps, analysing payroll data, and developing efficient systems to enhance accuracy and consistency. The role requires ADP and Excel capability, and a sound understanding of awards, EBAs and payroll legislation. This is an initial 6 month contract with a potential to extend.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct payroll compliance reviews and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop, document and streamline payroll processes and reporting frameworks.
• Manage exception reporting, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
• Create and maintain trackers and Excel reports (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, formulas).
• Partner with managers to develop better ways of working and process efficiency.
• Support audits and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

About You

• Proven experience in payroll compliance or payroll leadership within large or complex organisations.
• Hands-on experience using ADP payroll systems.
• Strong understanding of awards, EBAs and regulatory requirements.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, macros an advantage).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
