About the role

As a Senior Fleet Officer, you will partner with Team Leader Fleet Management to deliver a fully integrated approach to fleet procurement, lifecycle maintenance, and policy compliance.

You will make this role your own driving the specialist data, systems, and procurement functions that keep Council’s fleet safe, cost-efficient, and compliant to audits while looking for improvements along the way.

What your day will look like

Managing the yearly Fleet Procurement Plan, including light vehicles, trucks, specialised fleet items and plant, using proven assessment methods of assets due for changeover and make recommendations on appropriate replacements

Developing vehicle and plant specifications with relevant stakeholders ensuring alignment with operational needs and Council policy

Leading the procurement process including preparation of Tender and RFQ documentation

Maintaining the accuracy of Fleet data in Council’s long-term financial place and asset plan, and assets plan

Administering the roadside assistance programs, fuel cards, registration renewal and toll invoice processing

Administering Council’s GPS platform, including data accuracy user access and vendor liaison

Overseeing the pool-vehicle booking system, ensuring availability, utilisation reporting and user support

Analysing fleet lifecycle cost, utilisation, and data, and support implementation of data-informed approaches to optimise Fleet

What you will bring

Degree or diploma in a relevant field with relevant experience OR a lesser qualification with substantial relevant experience in procurement

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders

Well-developed time management and organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously

Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, creative problem solving and the ability to make professional and complex judgements

Experience managing or contributing to long-term fleet planning and lifecycle optimisation is highly desirable
