A bit about the role
The position leads Council’s Business Sustainability and Circular Economy initiatives, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among local businesses. Key duties include managing sustainability programs, promoting resource efficiency, developing circular economy projects and events, and translating emerging trends into actionable strategies that support the City of Casey’s sustainability goals.
Commitment to holistic environmental outcomes through shaping and promoting policies and projects that integrate sustainability in all facets of business.
What you’ll deliver
- Drive Circular Economy and Sustainability Projects that directly contribute to Council’s strategic aims—champion initiatives that help local businesses transition to sustainable practices, promote resource efficiency, and accelerate Casey’s evolution into a circular economy leader.
- Facilitate Environmentally Responsible Business Initiatives by acting as a trusted liaison between businesses and Council regulatory teams—streamline processes, encourage eco-friendly innovation, and foster a culture of environmental stewardship throughout the business community.
- Lead Sustainable Program Planning and Evaluation through managing projects with measurable environmental and business outcomes. Assist businesses in implementing best practice that ensure businesses remain at the forefront of circular economy trends and leverage off associated opportunities.
- Build Strategic Partnerships for a Greener Future by collaborating with industry leaders, government agencies, and local businesses—advocate for sustainable economic development, support green job creation, and promote initiatives that position Casey as a circular economy trailblazer.
- Position Casey as a Premier Circular Economy Destination by contributing to sustainability research, forums, collaborations that highlight Casey’s innovative approaches and attract investment in Casey’s priority sectors
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, marketing, business, communications or management are extremely desirable.
- Relevant experience and a track record of demonstrable achievement in an economic development, or related role
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
