Gilson College is seeking expressions of interest in the role of Primary Mental Health and Wellbeing Officer. As this is a position linked to a government funding initiative, this is a fixed term part-time position of 0.40 FTE commencing on 15 January 2026 and concluding on 10 December 2027.

Key Responsibilities:
The role of the Primary Mental Health and Wellbeing Officer is to build the capability of primary school with regard to mental health and wellbeing (identification, promotion and prevention), provide support to staff to better identify and support students with mental health needs, establish clear pathways for referral for students requiring assessment and intervention, and monitor and evaluate student progress. The role was specifically established as a coordination function to support educators in the classroom and to provide a crucial link to resources external to the school.
Application Requirements:
The successful applicant will hold a teaching qualification, registration with VIT, ideally 5+ years teaching experience (with experience in mental health or wellbeing being an advantage). Competencies include; excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Applicants are to demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the College.
