Clinical Project Coordinator (Faculty of Medicine & Health, Clinical Research Unit)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week) or Part time (0.8 FTE) also considered
  • Duration: 1-Year Fixed Term (possible extension, funding dependant)
  • Remuneration: $113k - $123k base depending on experience (+ 17% Superannuation and leave loading)

  • Location: Office is in Kensington, Sydney (Hybrid, 1 – 2 days in the office required)

UNSW Medicine & Health, Clinical Research Unit

UNSW Medicine & Health established the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) to connect infrastructure, experience, and expertise available within UNSW and its affiliated groups to support both investigator-initiated and industry partnered clinical research throughout the UNSW network. The CRU collaborates closely with various research support services within and outside the faculty for pre and post award assistance.

Why this role matters

The Clinical Project Coordinator is responsible for set up, coordination and monitoring of clinical research projects, conducted in partnership with the Clinical Research Unit. This may include both academic or industry partnered studies/trials. The role will primarily be working on a phase I/II spinal orthopaedic trial with anticipated opportunities to work on other trials across a range of therapeutic areas over time.

Key skills required:

  • Graduate biomedical science qualifications or other medical qualifications including nursing or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • A strong knowledge of Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines with substantial relevant experience in the conduct of clinical research.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking ethical and regulatory submissions, coordinating and monitoring clinical trials in Australia. Phase I/II study experience would be well regarded.
  • Demonstrated management of clinical trial data and clinical trial databases, and research specimen collection.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract development and management.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and running project team meetings.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the proven capacity to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel locally, maybe interstate further into the study if the role is extended
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office with a proven aptitude for learning new software packages, accessing research publications and searching relevant databases.
