About the role
Due to growth in the department, we are seeking an experienced Senior Research Coordinator / Team Lead to join our Gastroenterology and Liver Research Group, on a permanent, Full-Time contract (Health Service Manager Level 2 salary band $109,857 - $129,624).
The Senior Research Coordinator / Team Lead will work with Gastroenterologists and be responsible for conducting and implementing clinical trial and investigator led research protocols including the evaluation and recruitment of eligible participants to clinical trials, implementing and monitoring study protocols and documentation associated with the studies/trials.
The role will also be responsible for coordinating the research activity, processes, finances and business development of the Department of Gastroenterology and Liver and overseeing a team of research staff.
As a Senior Research Coordinator / Team Lead, you will have the following experience, at minimum:
A degree in health/medical/biomedical science or nursing.
Previous pharmaceutical and/or investigator led clinical trials coordination experience with role as a clinical trials coordinator, in hospital or academic setting (minimum 3 years’ experience).
High level organisational skills and project management skills including the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within agreed timeframes.
High level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex reports, financial reports, project updates and briefs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including highly developed negotiation and delegation skills and the ability to motivate and co-ordinate staff.
Proven ability to identify and analyse problems, make recommendations and implement appropriate solutions in the research environment.
Experience with writing study protocols, preparing and submitting ethics and site-specific applications, including using REGIS.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
High level computing skills, including databases, clinical trial electronic data entry, work processing and spreadsheets.
High level of professionalism in the approach to research staff, department heads and stakeholders; and a positive “can do” attitude
Desirable criteria:
Post-graduate qualifications in appropriate research, biostatistics and/or coordinating clinical trial research and clinical trials management or equivalent discipline or equivalent extensive experience.
Previous experience and understanding of financial and record management skills and experience in design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to provide managerial support to a research unit or organisation
Flexibility in work hours (as required).
