The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced SME Generalist Legal Counsel to act as a trusted adviser to our leadership team and Board. This is a hands-on, business-facing role covering the full legal spectrum of a growing national services business. You’ll provide strategic and operational legal support across areas including:

Commercial law – drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and service agreements

Corporate law – governance, ASIC, board and shareholder matters, company secretarial functions

Employment law – contracts, policies, awards, disciplinary matters, workplace investigations, WHS obligations, and Fair Work compliance

Privacy and data protection – compliance with Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), internal data governance and policy frameworks

Regulatory and licensing – compliance with trade, building, plumbing, and services licensing obligations (All Australian states)

Construction and property law – subcontractor agreements, tenders, procurement, and building law compliance

Insurance and risk management – claims, indemnities, incident response and coverage reviews

Dispute resolution & litigation – early resolution strategy, managing external counsel, court/tribunal matters, and enforcing contracts

Intellectual Property – protecting brand, trademarks, and proprietary systems

M&A and expansion – supporting acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic growth initiatives

What We’re Looking For

10-15 years experience PQE with demonstrated expertise across multiple legal domains relevant to commercial operations (in-house or top-tier firm)

Broad experience supporting SMEs or high-growth businesses, ideally in services, construction, or infrastructure sectors

Proven ability to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Pragmatic, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with significant autonomy
