Finance Lead – R&D & AI (Future CFO)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Finance Lead to join a fast-growing AI and R&D technology company in the transport and fleet sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and optimise the company’s financial systems, manage audits, and oversee R&D reporting.

You’ll start hands-on, shaping processes from scratch, with a clear pathway to CFO as the business scales, prepares for Series A funding, and moves toward an ASX listing. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and wants to leave a lasting legacy.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting for Australian and UK entities

Assist with R&D tax claims and compliance audits

Develop and maintain financial models, KPI dashboards, and reporting frameworks

Collaborate with leadership to optimise processes using automation

Support capital raising, investor reporting, and strategic financial planning

Build scalable financial structures and processes from the ground up

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CA highly desirable

3+ years in accounting, R&D finance, or advisory roles (Big 4 or boutique advisory preferred)

Experience in audits, financial reporting, reconciliations, and R&D tax

Exposure to tech or AI companies highly valued

Highly productive, self-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment
