Kitchen Hand – Maldon Bakery (Central Victoria)

Maldon Bakery, the oldest continuously running bakery in Australia, is seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our close-knit, hardworking team.

For over 170 years, Maldon Bakery has proudly served our community with a daily loaf, piping hot pie, or favourite treat. We believe the local bakery is the heart and soul of any town — and that sense of care, pride, and consistency runs through everything we do.

This role is ideal for someone local to Maldon or nearby towns, who enjoys being part of a small, supportive team and is committed to reliable weekday work.

Hours: Monday to Friday, within business hours

Location: Maldon, Central Victoria (close to Castlemaine, Bendigo and Maryborough). Note, own transport essential, as there’s no public transport to Maldon.

Pay rate: General Retail Award, depending on age and experience.

About the Role

As Kitchen Hand, you’ll play an essential role behind the scenes — helping our bakers and pastry team prepare for the day’s production, keeping the kitchen clean and organised, and assisting with general food preparation.

You’ll be part of the daily rhythm that keeps the bakery humming, contributing to a workplace that values teamwork, care and consistency – and helping to produce our award-winning pies enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

Comfortable with fast-paced work

Practical, efficient, and willing to lend a hand wherever needed

A positive team player who enjoys a friendly, professional environment

Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential — a great attitude and strong work ethic are what matter most.
